Repas: dynamic partial reconfiguration for space applications

In space, electronic components are vulnerable to radiations which may provoke misbehaviors. Generally, such components are armored and reinforced. It limits the complexity of embedded functions; furthermore, as they are produced in limited quantity, they are expensive… FPGAs seem to be an interesting solution for spatial applications: complex functions can be implemented, they are reconfigurable and they are produced in large quantities. However, they are sensible to radiations as for older chips. In this project, we made a mechanism where we can take benefit of FPGA advantages in order to repair the side effect due to spatial radiations. The presentation (in French):
